Spark in the Dark: Writing, Poetry, and Ritual for Grief
We invite you to join fellow grievers on Saturday, February 22nd, from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM, for a free community event at Grange Hall, located in the north end ferry parking lot at 10365 Cowan Rd., Vashon, WA.
This gathering offers a space to explore and process grief through creative expression. Participants will engage in poetry and guided writing exercises designed to help express and navigate their emotions. The event also includes a guided ritual and an interactive altar to honor those who have passed away.
The event is facilitated by Kari Hilwig, a Vashon-based therapist and palliative care social worker, and Elizabeth Austen, a Seattle poet, performer, and educator. With experience leading grief and loss poetry and writing events in Seattle, they are honored to bring this offering to the Vashon community.
What to Bring
- A candle and an object that represents the person or loss you are grieving, to place on the altar.
- Writing paper and a pen for the guided exercises.
Although the event is free, we kindly ask that you register in advance to help us plan for attendance.
We look forward to sharing this meaningful space with you.
